Then I sat there and peeled them—three eggs, one by one.
I gave one to my sister and the other two to my two children.
And somehow, that was enough. There was something comforting about making something simple and giving it away.
But I realized afterward that I hadn’t kept an egg for myself.
So next time I make eggs with you, I’ll make enough for both of us.
And we’ll sit down and eat them together.
